Hospital charges new mum $39.35 to hold her newborn baby

A Reddit user posted a bill which has quickly gone viral on the web. Listed in the bill which was given to the new mother was $39.35 charge for holding her own baby after delivery in a recent labor and delivery service in the United States. The bill shows a charge for “skin to skin after C-section.” The Reddit user who posted it explained more in a few comments.

Photo: Baby girl found abandoned in Abia State with a note that she should not be sold

A newborn abandoned baby girl was rescued by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) near a clinic in Umuahia, Abia State. A letter left by the baby's mother was also recovered. According to Channels TV, the letter said that the baby should not be sold but handed over to motherless babies’ home or any well-meaning Nigerian who can cater for her welfare.
The Abia State NSCDC Commandant, Walter Chika, who confirmed the incident revealed that the abandoned child was rescued by the Anti-Traffic Unit of the agency near a health centre in Avodim village in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.


The NSCDC Commandant urged young women to avoid acts that could result into pregnancy if they are not ready to take responsibility as abandoning children under the disguise of inability to care for them was a criminal act and against the right of the Nigerian child.

Discussion was ongoing with designated ministry to take responsibility for the child, he added. Source: Channels TV

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced another round of air interdiction missions codenamed ‘OPERATION FOREST STORM’ in the North East. This new phase of offensive air operations is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Sambisa general area with a view to restrict the freedom of action of the insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to movement of own ground forces in continuing with their rescue operations.
