Fire outbreak at an orphanage in South Africa kills seven

Seven people, mostly children, were killed in a fire outbreak at an orphanage in Durban, South Africa today July 14th. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The ages of those killed range from four years to twenty-one years. Spokesperson of South Africa's Emergency Service EMS, Robert McKenzie, said that they received a call about the fire at around 2.20am.

"Tragically seven people were killed, among them several children. Reports from the scene is that much of the building has been destroyed." he said

Burial of murdered Abuja preacher postponed as family seeks to carry out independent autopsy

The burial of murdered RCCG evangelist, Eunice Olawale, which was slated for today July 14th has been postponed. A pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Biola Egebeyemi, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja yesterday July 13th, said the decision was taken by the family of the deceased so that the police can carry out a thorough investigation into the murder.

Gunmen suspected to be militants from Niger Delta have reportedly been attacking some people in Ikorodu, Lagos State. A DB reader sent in these photos and narrated how a man barely escaped their grasp on Tuesday, after they opened fire on his car while he was heading home at night.

He requested that the photos be shared to inform the authorities that these attacks are increasing and getting worse by day. The man who was shot luckily survived, but not without a bullet piercing his shoulder. See more photos from the attack after the cut...
