Photos: Nigeria Customs impounds over N1.3 Billion worth of contraband goods in six months

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri has continued to beam its search light on smugglers of contraband goods in the country resulting in the seizure of a total of one hundred and sixty-nine (169) items with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of one billion, three hundred and seventy-nine million, seven hundred and seventy-two thousand, five hundred and

seventeen naira (N1,379,772,517.00) and a total of three hundred and ninety-four million, eight hundred and fifteen thousand, and thirty eight naira (N 394,815,038.00) as an underpayment recovered within the period in question; forty-two (42) suspects were arrested in connection with the seizures made, while twenty-five (25) cases are now pending in court for possible prosecution of the culprits between January and June this year. This is in contrast with a total of N39,644,813.00 underpayment recovered and a DPV of N1,013,833,362.00 which the unit recorded in the year 2015.

Mother jumps on car bonnet as thief drives off with her kids inside

A man who stole a car in San Bernardino, Calif., late Sunday night with two small children in the back seat was followed and ultimately arrested because of the vigilance of three good Samaritans, police said.
San Bernardino police Lt. Rich Lawhead said, at around 11:30pm late Sunday night, a mother who had her 2 young children strapped in their car seats in the back of the vehicle, ran into a convenience store to buy them some drinks. The woman left her car running, the air conditioner on and parked directly in front of the market window so she could see the car from inside the store.

Photo: Mutilated body of 3-year-old twin girl found in bushes, suspected to have been raped.

Body of three-year-old Nevalesia Campbell was discovered in bushes with chop wounds about 9:30 on July 10 at Orange Hill in Brown's Town, St Ann, Jamaica. Acting commander of the St Ann police Superintendent Gary Francis said the mother of the child reported her missing at about 2:00 am.
