The video below shows the brutal moment UFC fighter Alistair Overeem's lip was torn open by a single brutal punch from his opponent Jairzinho Rozenstruik during a UFC bout in Washington DC over the weekend.
The Dutch-British fighter, who was ahead on the judge's scorecards was seconds away from winning the fight before he received a brutal punch that tore his top lip open as he fell to the ground.
The 38-year-old managed to get back to his feet after receiving from the punch, but Referee Dan Miragliotta decided to end the bout in the fourth minute and 56th second of the fifth round. Overeem was 4-0 up on the scorecards before the incident ended his night.
The defeat ended a two-fight winning run for Overeem, who now has a record of 45 wins and 18 defeats in his mixed martial arts career.
Reacting on Twitter, he wrote: 'Getting stitched up. Lip not too sexy at the moment.. a little bit a fast stoppage if u ask me - but hope u guys enjoyed the fight'.
