How to transfer a domain name to godaddy.com

Hello Readers, here I am again with a great tutorial updates which shows you how to transfer a domain name from any domain registrar via the registrar transfer options to godaddy.com. If you have been my subscriber for more than a year, you will notice that I got this very domain late last year as explained in this update.

You may also note that this is made possible with the help of a Auth Code or EPP Code which I will be explaining in this post and if ever you are having problem or having no clue on this, then you just got a permanent solution for life.

Transferring a domain to godaddy.com is not a trivial process, but not rocket science either.
Once you learn the necessary steps, it will be easy.

Transfer costs $7.99 - price may vary - but you get 1 year free extension.
You have to renew the domain every year anyway, and renew price is usually higher.
1) Check if the domain is available for transfer
1a) domain is not locked
1b) get authorization code (AUTH CODE or EPP CODE)
1c) Administrative contact's (Admin-c) mail is forwarded to you

2) Log in to your godaddy.com account, or create a free account.

3) Order transfer
3a) All Products → Domains → Transfer Domain or goto Godaddy Transfer Page Direct
3b) Enter domain name to be transferred, click GO.
3c) Click Proceed to Checkout
3d) Click Checkout.
3e) Provide your Credit Card Information, check the box next to
"I have read and agree...", read if you did not do it earlier.
     Then click Place Order Now

3f) Transfer is automatically initiated.

4) Get mail from godaddy.com

Re: Transfer of delsublog.com

GoDaddy received a request on October 12, 2015 for us to become the new registrar of record.

You received this message because you're listed as the Registered Name Holder or Administrative contact for this domain name. If you're not the Account Holder, or you're transferring the domain to a new owner, please forward this email to the appropriate Account Holder to complete the transfer process.

When authorizing this transfer, you'll be prompted to provide the following Transfer IDs:

Transaction ID: 201091752
Security Code: ROOG94169

To proceed with the transfer, log in and follow these instructions.

NOTE: After a domain transfer is complete, you cannot transfer it to another registrar for 60 days, apart from transferring back to the original registrar in cases where both registrars so agree or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs.

If you DO NOT WANT the transfer to proceed, do not respond to this message.

If you have any questions, visit Online Support or call us at (480) 505-8877.

5) Authorize transfer
5a) Click on your username, a dropdown menu will appear and click Visit My Account.
5b) Next to DOMAINS, click WWW Domains.

If the Manage button does not display for you, from the Products > Domainsmenu, select Manage Domains.

5c) From the Domains menu, select Transfers, Manage and Click Ok.
5d) Click Authorization Code Needed
5e) Click Add Transfer Code»
5f) In the Transaction ID and Security Code fields, enter the Transaction ID
and Security Code godaddy.com sent to the Admin-contact email address, and then
     click Add, Next.
(If you have a .au domain name, godaddy.com will send transfer IDs and a confirmation email to the registrant contact's email address as it displays in the Whois database.)
5g) Do one of the following:
·         Select the Basic tab, and then enter the Authorization Code also known as (EPP Code) from the current registrar (if applicable) in the field next to your domain name.
·         Select the Advanced tab, and then enter one domain name and its authorization code per line. Separate each domain name from its authorization code with a comma, space, or tab.
If you do not have an authorization code, see How do I get an authorization code to transfer my domain name to you? Some domain name extensions do not require authorization codes.

5h) Check I authorize the transfer..., and then click Finish.

6) Wait for 5 to 7 days for transfer to complete
Old registrar sends email to Admin-contact address, asking if transfer is genuine. (So you could cancel the transfer if you like.)
Just ignore the mail, and transfer will finish after 5 to 7days.

7) Checking the Progress of your transfer
After you authorize the transfer, we send a request to your domain name's registry, and then they notify your current registrar. Your current registrar might send a request for transfer approval to the domain name's admin email address. Then, your current registrar sends an acceptance or rejection notice back to the registry, and then the registry notifies us of the transfer status.
On the Pending Transfers page in the Domain Manager, you can track your transfer's progress.

To Check the Progress of Your Transfer

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Next to Domains, click Manage.
  3. From the Domains menu, select Transfers. In the Pending Transfers Grid, the following columns display information for each domain name pending transfer:
